Angular motion point spread function model considering aberrations and defocus effects

Abstract: (Doc. ID 64203) When motion blur is considered, the optics point spread function (PSF) is conventionally assumed to be fixed, and therefore cascading of the motion optical transfer function (OTF) with the optics OTF is allowed. However, in angular motion conditions, the image is distorted by space-variant effects of wavefront aberrations, defocus, and motion blur. The proposed model considers these effects and formulates a combined space-variant PSF obtained from the angle-dependent optics PSF and the motio… Show more

“…Space variant effects are considered to get the combined point spread function (PSF) of motion and optics in the presence of angular motion. 8 Seidel aberration coefficients of the system are satisfied in a way that third-order spherical aberration is independent of object position. 9 A relation between the Strehl ratio and aberration function was formulated.…”

“…There are studies in literature focusing on key issues of optical aberrations. Space variant effects are considered to get the combined point spread function (PSF) of motion and optics in the presence of angular motion 8 . Seidel aberration coefficients of the system are satisfied in a way that third‐order spherical aberration is independent of object position 9 .…”

“…Angular motion effect was considered as space variant effect and combined point spread function (PSF) was obtained. 8 Aberration coefficients can be selected in a way to satisfy third-order spherical aberration as independent of object position. 9 Annular apertures in the presence of aberrations were demonstrated via Fourier optics formalism of the Strehl ratio.…”

“…All these studies were relative to defocusing analysis of Point Spread Function of optical systems with symmetric apodized pupils. I. Klapp and Y. Yitzhaky [5] developed new model of angular motion PSF by considering space -variant effects of wave front aberrations and defocus. J. Burge and W.S.…”
