“…In order for simulation models to be credible, their internal logic must be presented clearly to domain experts and decision makers. Animation in 3D is a very effective means of communication that allows errors in logic to be easily identified and corrected, and planning groups to participate in discussions aimed at improving the plan (Biles and Wilson, 1987; Cox, 1988; Robinson, 1997; Henriksen, 1998; Tucker et al, 1998; Jain, 1999; Rohrer, 2000; Law and Kelton, 2000; Kamat and Martinez, 2003). Kamat and Martinez (2002) present a very detailed and comprehensive literature review on the use of visualization techniques in construction.…”

“…The capability to visualize modeled construction operations in 3D can be of substantial help in describing the intricacies of simulation models and in obtaining valuable insight into the subtleties of construction operations that are otherwise nonquantifiable and unpresentable. By communicating the logic and the inner working in a comprehensible manner, 3D visualization can facilitate the validation and verification of complex simulation models, thus providing an opportunity to convince all parties involved that models indeed reflect reality (Biles and Wilson, 1987;Cox, 1988;Robinson, 1997;Tucker et al, 1998;Henriksen, 1999;Jain, 1999;Law and Kelton, 2000;Rohrer, 2000). These are essential in establishing the credibility of simulation analyses, without which the results will not be used in decision-making (Law and Kelton, 2000).…”

“…Visualizing simulated operations can be an effective means of achieving this (Law and Kelton 2000, Rohrer 2000, Jain 1999, Henriksen 1998, Tucker et al 1998, Robinson 1997, Cox 1988, Biles and Wilson 1987. It is a generally accepted fact that visually presented information is understood and grasped more easily than any other form of communication.…”
