Anomalous Behavior of Itinerant Weak Ferromagnet LaFe4As12in NMR/NQR Studies

Abstract: We report the results of As-nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) in LaFe 4 As 12 which shows itinerant ferromagnetic order at 5.2 K. We used high quality sample grown by high pressure synthesis. Appreciably broadened 75 As-NQR spectrum over the frequency range from 53.5 to 57.5 MHz observed below T C is the first microscopic evidence for a ferromagnetic order in LaFe 4 As 12 . In the paramagnetic state, Nowak et al. [Phys. Rev. B 79 (2009) 214411] reported that the nature of the low-energy spin excitations is … Show more

“…Figure 5 shows the temperature dependence of 1/T 1 T . For comparison, we also plotted the 1/T 1 T data for the itinerant ferromagnet LaFe 4 As 12 reported previously [52] where a clear peak in 1/T 1 T can be observed at a Curie temperature of 5.2 K. With decreasing temperature, 1/T 1 T for EuFe 4 As 12 increases gradually and shows a divergent behavior around 153 K, corresponding to the ferrimagnetic phase transition at T C ∼ 154 K. The values of 1/T 1 T for EuFe 4 As 12 above T C are almost one order of magnitude greater than those in LaFe 4 As 12 at the temperature region. Since there is no 4f electrons in LaFe 4 As 12 , the largely enhanced 75 As relaxation in EuFe 4 As 12 could mainly originate from the fluctuations of the Eu 4f electron moments.…”
