“…The experimental technique, laboratory electrolyzer, and methods for determining the content of uranium and zirconium in the oxide phase and in the melt, as well as the method for calculating the current efficiency of UO 2 , are given in Ref. 5. The thorium content in the salt and oxide phases was also determined using an Optima 4300 DV spectrometer by Perkin Elmer USA.…”

“…We synthesized UO 2 -ZrO 2 crystalline deposits, and the concentration of zirconium dioxide reached 98 mol% upon electrolysis of the salt melt (NaCl-KCl)-UO 2 Cl 2 -ZrCl 4 ; furthermore, the mechanism of their formation was suggested. [3][4][5] It seems possible to synthesize other crystalline cathode deposits based on uranium dioxide, including UO 2 -ThO 2 , using this method. The necessary condition is the presence of two simultaneous reactions occurring on the cathode.…”

“…It was reported that the electrolysis product was a solid solution of UO 2 and CeO 2 , and the unit cell parameters of UO 2 decreased with the increase of CeO 2 content. Krotov et al 30,31 studied the influence of Zr 4+ on the deposition mechanism of UO and Pd could be co-deposited with UO 2 , which was not conducive to the removal of noble metals during electrorefining process. Kosugi et al 10 studied the effects of noble metals on the behavior of electrodeposited UO 2 under low current density.…”
