Antenna Selection in MIMO Cognitive Radio-Inspired NOMA Systems

Abstract: Abstract-This letter investigates a joint antenna selection (AS) problem for a MIMO cognitive radio-inspired non-orthogonal multiple access (CR-NOMA) network. In particular, a new computationally efficient joint AS algorithm, namely subset-based joint AS (SJ-AS), is proposed to maximize the signal-to-noise ratio of the secondary user under the condition that the quality of service (QoS) of the primary user is satisfied. The asymptotic closed-form expression of the outage performance for SJ-AS is derived, and t… Show more

“…The ergodic capacity for multiple-input multipleoutput (MIMO) NOMA systems was studied in [15], [16] and the capacity superiority of MIMO-NOMA over MIMO-OMA was proved. Moreover, transmit antenna selection (TAS) scheme has been verified as a low complexity solution to improve performance of NOMA systems when multiple antennas are available at the base station [17]- [22]. The authors of [17] and [18] investigated the performance of an energy harvesting AF relaying NOMA system with TAS scheme and closedform expressions for OP was obtained.…”

“…Two TAS algorithms for MIMO-NOMA systems were proposed and the average sum-rates were analyzed in [21]. The same authors also proposed a joint TAS and PA scheme for a cognitive MIMO-NOMA system and the asymptotic OP was studied in [22].…”

“…Proof of Proposition 1: In general, OP can be defined as = 1 − ( , ≥ ℎ ) ≥ 1 − ( , ≥ ℎ ) = ( , < ℎ ) (17) As will be seen in Section 4, the numerical results show that the lower bound OP is about the exact one, and hence it can be considered to be roughly approximated value to the exact one, i.e., ≈ = . By using (12), the approximated of the th user can be stated as…”

“…Ustunbas and Aygolu improve the sum‐rate of the downlink NOMA network with TAS by considering the fairness between the users. The outage probability (OP) performance of the joint AS algorithms proposed in Yu et al is studied for the cases of fixed power coefficients and optimized ones in Li et al and Yu et al, respectively. The secrecy OP performance of the NOMA networks has been investigated for different TAS schemes in previous works .…”
