Anti-Cancer Activity of Derivatives of 1,3,4-Oxadiazole

Abstract: Compounds containing 1,3,4-oxadiazole ring in their structure are characterised by multidirectional biological activity. Their anti-proliferative effects associated with various mechanisms, such as inhibition of growth factors, enzymes, kinases and others, deserve attention. The activity of these compounds was tested on cell lines of various cancers. In most publications, the most active derivatives of 1,3,4-oxadiazole exceeded the effect of reference drugs, so they may become the main new anti-cancer drugs in… Show more

“…The variety of coordination modes typical for oxadiazole-containing ligands result in the formation of multiple mono-and polynuclear complexes, as well as coordination polymers (Akhbari & Morsali, 2010). Complexes with oxadiazole-based ligands have demonstrated significant biological activity as anti-cancer (Glomb et al, 2018), antiinflammatory (Singh et al, 2013), anti-tuberculosis (De et al, 2019) and anti-malarial (Zareef et al, 2007) agents.…”

“…Oxadiazoles are an important class of heterocyclic compounds because of their broad biological activities. In particular, 1,3,4-Oxadiazole derivatives are known to act as antibacterial (Ahmed et al, 2018), antimicrobial (Zheng et al, 2018), anticancer (Glomb et al, 2018), anti-inflammatory (Abd-Ellah et al, 2017), analgesic (Husain & Ajmal, 2009), antitubercular (Ali & Shaharyar, 2007;Zampieri et al, 2009), and vasodilatory (Shirote & Bhatia, 2010) agents. They are also important as starting materials for cycloaddition reactions (Vasilev et al, 2007), and are employed in the synthesis of furans (Wolkenberg & Boger, 2002), natural products (Yuan et al, 2005) and plant-growth hormones (Won et al, 2011).…”
