“…Although pharmacotherapy combined with compression and sometimes surgical intervention is the most effective approach in CVD treatment, topical treatment may alleviate some symptoms and prevent unfavorable processes in skin. Diosmin is commercially available in the form of gel, ointment, or emulsion for topical application; however, scientific reports on its efficacy are scarce [9]. Therefore, the aim of the present paper was to investigate the anti-inflammatory activity of diosmin and its aglycone diosmetin in a human skin fibroblast cell culture treated with bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS).…”

“…The biological mechanisms underlying the anti-inflammatory beneficiary effects of diosmin are well documented, which consistently include inhibition of inflammatory reactions through a potent reduction in prostaglandin E2 and thromboxane A2 and inhibition of leukocyte and adhesion. 70,77 It's interesting to note diosmin's anti-inflammatory effect precedes its antioxidant effect after 7 days of treatment. Our data suggest that diosmin is potently anti-inflammatory, and after some delay activates eNOS to induce further anti-inflammation.…”

“…They determined that animals pre‐treated with diosmin exhibited less neutrophil adhesion in the post‐capillary venules compared to the control group. The biological mechanisms underlying the anti‐inflammatory beneficiary effects of diosmin are well documented, which consistently include inhibition of inflammatory reactions through a potent reduction in prostaglandin E2 and thromboxane A2 synthesis and inhibition of leukocyte activation/migration and adhesion 70,77 . It's interesting to note that diosmin's anti‐inflammatory effect precedes its antioxidant effect after 7 days of treatment.…”

“…The endothelial cell basal medium (ECBM, PromoCell) with bovine serum albumin and growth factors was added to the bottom of the wells, allowing diffusion between the two compartments separated by the porous membrane. The skin explants remained viable ex vivo for 4 days, corresponding to the time during which controls remained untreated, and test explants were in contact with the study product 14 …”
