Anti-inflammatory bibenzyls from the stems of Dendrobium huoshanense via bioassay guided isolation

Abstract: The stems of Dendrobium huoshanense have long been used to prevent various diseases, including inflammatory diseases. This study was aimed to explain the anti-inflammatory effect of D. huoshanense stems in LPS-induced RAW 264.7 macrophages and to discover potential anti-inflammatory compounds. Results exhibited that D. huoshanense stems ethanol extract could significantly inhibit LPS-induced production of NO, TNF-α and IL-1β. Based on bioassay guided strategy, four bibenzyls (1-4) were isolated from D. huoshan… Show more

“…Dendrocandins (DDCDs) comprise a family of compounds originally extracted from the stem of Dendrobium plants [18][19][20][21][22][23]. The structure of DDCD was elucidated as a stilbenolignan skeleton in which a bibenzyl moiety is linked to a phenylpropane unit via a dioxane bridge.…”

“…The structure of DDCD was elucidated as a stilbenolignan skeleton in which a bibenzyl moiety is linked to a phenylpropane unit via a dioxane bridge. DDCDs are highly bioactive, exhibiting antioxidant, anticancer, and anti-inflammatory activities [18][19][20][21][22][23][24]. As a class of important compounds in Dendrobium species, DDCDs have attracted considerable and growing interest among scientists.…”

“…Recently, researchers are devoted to the development of fast, sensitive, and cost-effective portable biosensors for Hg 2+ , in which the methods generally include electrochemistry [ 16 , 17 ], field-effect transistors [ 18 ], surface plasmon resonance [ 19 , 20 ], Raman spectroscopy [ 21 ], colorimetric detection [ 22 , 23 ], and fluorescence [ 24 ]. Compared with traditional sensors, biochips can not only achieve high-throughput detection but also meet portability and efficiency [ 25 ], which have been developed to detect DNA [ 26 ], proteins/peptides [ 27 ], and heavy metal ions [ 28 ].…”
