Anti-inflammatory Effect of an Ethyl Acetate Fraction from Myagropsis yendoi on Lipopolysaccharides-stimulated RAW 264.7 Cells

Abstract: An ethanolic extract from Myagropsis yendoi was fractionated using several solvents. Among these, an ethyl acetate fraction (Myagropsis yendoi ethyl acetate fraction: MYE) showed the highest anti-inflammatory activity based on inhibition of lipopolysaccharides (LPS)-induced nitric oxide (NO) production in RAW 264.7 cells. We thus investigated the molecular mechanisms underlying MYE's inhibitory effects. Pretreatment of cells with up to 30 µg/mL of MYE significantly inhibited NO production and inducible nitric … Show more

“…However, mice treated with the combination of TA and LC showed significant alleviation of the disease and improved treatment effects. Phlorotannins isolated from E. Stolonifera have previously demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects by inhibiting IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α, along with a reduction in NF-κB expression [45,46]. In the current study, the synergistic combination of TA and LC reduced inflammation, particularly in parameters such as spleen enlargement and lipocalin 2, Cox2, Occludin, and STAT3 mRNA expression, which are involved in inflammatory modulation and tight junction regulation.…”

“…Inflammation is a complex biological response of the body for protection of damaged tissue against bacterial infection or pathogens [1]. In a general inflammatory response, pro-inflammatory mediators are decreased after antigens are removed, while anti-inflammatory mediators are increased.…”

“…The activated macrophages release excessive amounts of NO and prostaglandins (PGs) which are generated by iNOS (inducible nitric oxide synthase) and COX (cyclooxygenase)-2, respectively, as well as pro-inflammatory cytokines like interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1β, and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α). These signaling pathways are able to induce inflammatory reactions, resulting in the development of various inflammationrelated diseases [1].…”
