INTRODUCTION: Occupational imbalance of overloaded online education and sleep deprivation has been complained by Thai occupational therapy students (OTS) during the worldwide pandemic of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) e.g., feeling asleep in the classroom, inactive engagement in problem-based learning. METHODS: This cross-sectional study aims to survey the OTS (n = 52 out of 128) regarding many standardized tools: smartphone addiction, internet addiction, sleep quality, sleep hygiene, and emotional states. Data analysis includes Pearson’s and Spearman’s rank-order correlations, Chi-square tests, and calculation of point prevalence rates. RESULTS: A strong correlation of smartphone and internet addiction was found (r = 0.703, p < 0.001). Moderate correlations were addressed including sleep quality and smartphone addiction (r = 0.566), sleep quality and stress (r = 0.574), sleep quality depression (r = 0.554), and anxiety and smartphone addiction (r = 0.512). This study has reported point prevalence rates, such as 23.44% poor sleep quality, 17.96% smartphone addiction, and 7.81% anxiety. CONCLUSION: The unwell sleep OTS are gaining comorbidities of smartphone and internet addiction and negative emotional states than those well sleep OTS. A restoration of occupational balance will be required for those poor sleep quality and anxiety.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people all over the globe suffered from disorientation. The main identified cause is a sudden adaptation to remote working and learning, due to the abrupt closure of working and educational institutions. This includes the students at higher learning institutes who had to continue their studies through online distance learning (ODL) for almost two whole years., Time management skills are vital for students, and it becomes very crucial, especially in the critical time of the pandemic, to ensure the continuity of their learning process. The aim of this research is to study the relationship between time management skills with the level of productivity and motivation during open and distance learning (ODL). A quantitative approach was used as the mode of research. The students from the Faculty of Education were taken as sample respondents. The collected data were analyzed through SPSS Statistics software using descriptive analysis, chi-square, and simple linear regression. The results found a significant influence and relationship between time management skills and the students’ productivity and motivation levels. Overall, this research was able to answer some questions regarding the student’s time management skills during their ODL and how it affected their whole performances.

Occupational Injuries in Musicians: A Literature Review

Introduction The U.S. Department of Defense employs more musicians than any other organization in the USA with over 6,000 musicians employed. Musculoskeletal pathologies, behavioral health disorders, hearing loss, and dystonias account for the majority of reasons a musician seek medical care. The aim of this study is to review recent medical literature documenting occupational hazards in musicians. Materials and Methods Authors performed a literature review of publications related to musician performance-related musculoskeletal disorders (PRMDs) and performance-related pain (PRP), behavioral health disorders, dystonias, and hearing loss, published from 2004 to 2019 PubMed. Results The search returned 174 possible articles which, after review and exclusion, yielded 88 articles. Conclusions Medical literature suggests several risk factors for multiple disease categories. Practice time and history of PRMD/PRP were both associated with development of PRMD/PRP and focal dystonia. A history of behavioral health disorder was associated with development of focal dystonia. Clinicians should counsel their musician patients on strategies to minimize risks, and additional research is needed to identify specific causes of illnesses in musician populations.
