Anti-Proliferative Effect of Allium senescens L. Extract in Human T-Cell Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia Cells

Abstract: Allium species are well known plants distributed throughout the world, and they contain various bioactive components with different biological activities including anti-cancer effects. In this study, we investigated the inhibitory effect of Allium senescens L. (A.S.) extract on cell survival and IL-2-mediated inflammation in human T cell acute lymphocytic leukemia (T-ALL) Jurkat cells. Our results showed that A.S. extract induced caspase-dependent apoptosis of Jurkat cells with no significant cytotoxicity in t… Show more

“…Chronic low-back pain (CLBP) is defined as mechanical musculoskeletal pain in the lower back that has no known cause and lasts for more than 12 weeks [ 3 ]. The probability of developing low-back pain is high, with reported lifetime prevalence rates greater than 20% [ 4 ]. Research has shown several conditions associated with CLBP [ 5 ], such as sex—it is common in women—obesity, smoking, and aging.…”

“…It has been shown that BD and PMA elicit anti-proliferative effects in multiple types of cancer. Firstly, we found that BD and PMA exhibited potent anti-proliferative activity (IC 50 values of 10.8 and 10.6 μM, respectively) in a dose-dependent manner in MDA-MB-231 cells by MTT assay (Figure a). Accordingly, 10 BD and 10 μM PMA were used in subsequent experiments.…”

“…Inflammatory osteolysis is a common orthopaedic condition, and its treatment and prevention have long been a focus of research 24 . It is believed that inflammatory osteolysis is influenced by cytokines released in the inflammatory microenvironment, leading to increased OC recruitment and activation 25 . Thus, one of the most significant approaches in the treatment of localized osteolysis has been on the inhibition of inflammatory cytokines on OC development and activity 26,27 …”
