Antibiotic Sensitivity of Pathogens Causing Urinary Tract Infection

Abstract: Diagnosis of urinary tract infection (UTI) causing pathogens with their sensitivity to different antibiotics was performed with a total of 96 samples from both male (n=31; 32.3%) and female (n=65; 67.7%) of different age groups. Out of 96 urine samples, 55 (57.3%) were found positive after culturing in MacConkey agar plates. The percent distribution of positive cases against collected samples was higher for female (67%) than male (32%). However, female and male at the reproductive age of 16-30 years were more … Show more

“…This was comparable with the previous study by Muraraiah et al 7 and in contrast to studies by Prakasam et al and Akter et al, where females were more commonly affected. 8,9 Most of the patients were in 16-30 years age group in the present study. This was comparable with the previous study by Akter et al 9 The present study was aimed to teach the importance of pharmacotherapy and rational use of drugs to undergraduate students as explained in previous studies.…”

This was comparable with the previous study by Akter et al 9 The present study was aimed to teach the importance of pharmacotherapy and rational use of drugs to undergraduate students as explained in previous studies. 10 Students were able to categorize the drugs as antibiotics, antacids, antiemetics, analgesics, urinary alkalizers, and other drugs.…”

“…8 Therapeutic decision should be based on accurate, up-to date anti-microbial susceptibility pattern. 9 Investigating epidemiology of UTIs (prevalence, risk factors, bacterial isolates and antibiotic sensitivity) is fundamental for care givers and health planners to guide the expected interventions. 10 The objective of this study was to identify the spectrum of most common organisms responsible for urinary tract.…”
