Antifungal activities of medicinal plants extracts of Ivorian pharmacopoeia

Abstract: Aim:This study was to evaluate in vitro anti-fungal activity of aqueous and hydroethanolic from medicinal plants extracts collected in Côte d’Ivoire.Materials and Methods:Plants extracts were prepared by homogenization and separately incorporated to Sabouraud agar using the agar slanted double dilution method. Ketoconazole was used as standards for anti-fungal assay. The anti-fungal tests were performed by sowing 1000 cells of Candida albicans on the previously prepared medium culture. Anti-fungal activity was… Show more

“…On the other hand, the qualities of the obtained ointment are similar to those obtained by 40 Rokia et al,(2006) by its consistence, its pH (5.5) and its perfect homogeneity. However, the very strong anticandidosic activity of TEKAM 1 -X 0 has already been reported by Kra et al, (2014 and2015) and 21 Yayé et al, (2012) who worked in similar conditions with T mantaly barks. However the comparison of extract's performances reveals that TEKAM 1 -X 0 from the present study is respectively 2 times and 21.92 times more active than the extracts prepared by these authors.…”

“…According to the classification scale of the levels of the activities of 24 Kra et al,(2014), TEPOM, TEKAM 1 -X 0 and Kétoconazole anti-fungal activities are classified as very high levels of activity. The anticandidosic activity of SB is very low.…”

“…One study tested the extracts of multiple parts of plants found in the pharmacopoeia of the Côte D’Ivoire. 112 While no individual plants were identified or compounds characterized, C. albicans spp. were found to be sensitive to all the extracts tested.…”

“…(Tine et al, 2017) and many other herbs have also been reported. Indeed, Kra Mathieu et al showed that the hydroethanolic extracts from the four Terminalia species produced minimal fungicidal concentrations (MFC) values that are lower than the MFC value of ketoconazole (Mathieu et al, 2014). Other plant species like Borreria latifolia, Borreria verticillata, Erigeron floribundus, Euphorbia hirta, Turraea heterophylla and Vernonia colorata were tested (Bi et al, 2007).…”
