“…In accordance, the present study showed that, in enrolled patients, the number of teeth and the levels of PD, CAL and BOP were significantly dependent on serum A. actinomycetemcomitans IgG antibody levels ( p < 0.001 for all observations). These results were in agreement with previous pivotal observations which highlighted a possible relationship between PT and high A. actinomycetemcomitans levels in gingival biofilm [ 38 ].…”

“…P. micros were further detected in about half of the patients ( n = 4507) but its prevalence varied annually ranging from 21.9 to 81.6%. Thus, annual prevalence mirrors the published highly variant ranges from 20.5% (Mínguez et al, 2018) to 100% (Rams et al, 2011).…”

“…Our study confirmed that subgingival plaque samples from periodontitis patients consistently contained species of the so‐called ‘Socransky‐complexes’ (Socransky & Haffajee, 2005). Comparison of our data with studies from the Netherlands and Spain (van Winkelhoff et al, 2005), the United States (Heller et al, 2012; Rams et al, 2013) or Morocco (Chahboun et al, 2015; Mínguez et al, 2018) revealed that the numbers of patients included in other studies were lower, for example, from 30 (van Winkelhoff et al, 2005) to 564 (Rams et al, 2013) (Table 4). Differences in the proportional representation of the periodontal species in different studies may, therefore, be explained by subject number, inclusion and exclusion criteria, local epidemiology and microbiological methodology.…”

“…Thus, susceptibility testing of this antimicrobial is not relevant. Based on usage of breakpoint value for Haemophilus influenzae, most reports of susceptibility of A. actinomycetemcomitans to AML show that the prevalence of resistant isolates of the bacterium is low [35]. In addition, when isolates earlier found to be resistant to this antimicrobial were retested, the opposite result was achieved [36].…”
