“…Azines, R 1 R 2 CNNCR 1 R 2 , which can also be considered as NN‐linked diimines, are extremely useful organic compounds derived by condensation of hydrazine with an aldehyde or a ketone and they can be considered as 2,3‐diaza analogues of butadiene 1 . Enormous research has been done on various types of azines, both symmetrical and asymmetrical, because of their application in different fields such as nonlinear optical materials, 2,3 biological application, pharmaceutical activities, 2‐7 and their potential applications in bond formation, 8,9 polymerizations, 10‐14 and in the design of liquid crystals 15‐22 . It is noteworthy that the NN bond conformation in azines might be s‐cis , s‐trans , which are both planar, or gauche , while for asymmetric azines, four possible configurations could be considered.…”
