Spatial thinking ability is a very important ability in geography and everyday life. Geography learning has basic concepts, principles and approaches related to spatial (spatial), students should have the ability to think spatially and must develop it. This study aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning models on the spatial thinking abilities of students of SMAN 15 Padang. The research design is Quasi Experimental with a pretest-posttest design-control group. The subjects of this research were class X.E students of SMAN 15 Padang. Class E1 as the control class and class E3 as the experimental class with 33 students per class. The data collection technique was obtained from a spatial thinking ability test that had been tested for validity and reliability. The test questions are designed based on indicators of spatial thinking abilities and geography subject matter. The data analysis technique used an independent sample t-test with a sig level of 0.05 and was supported by IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0. The results of the t-test analysis showed a Sig (2-tailed) of 0.000 less than 0.05 and the average value of the experimental class was greater (37) than the control class (31), which means that the PBL model had an effect on the spatial thinking abilities of SMAN 15 students Padang.

Kemampuan spasial thinking merupakan kemampuan yang sangat penting dalam geografi dan kehidupan sehari-hari. Pembelajaran geografi memiliki konsep dasar, prinsip dan pendekatan yang terkait dengan spasial (keruangan), siswa seharusnya memiliki kemampuan berpikir spasial dan harus mengembangkannya. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh model Problem Based Learning terhadap kemampuan spasial thinking siswa SMAN 15 Padang. Desain penelitian yaitu Quasi Experimental dengan pretest-posttest design-control group. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X.E SMAN 15 Padang. Kelas E1 sebagai kelas kontrol dan kelas E3 sebagai kelas eksperimen dengan jumlah siswa per kelas 33 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data diperoleh dari tes kemampuan spasial thinking yang telah diuji validitas dan reliabilitas. Soal-soal tes dirancang berdasarkan indikator dari kemampuan spasial thinking dan materi pelajaran geografi. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji independent sample t-test dengan taraf sig 0,05 dan didukung oleh IBM SPSS Statistics 25.0. Hasil analisis uji-t menunjukkan Sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,000 kurang dari 0,05 dan nilai rata-rata kelas eksperimen lebih besar (37) dibandingkan kelas kontrol (31), yang berarti model PBL berpengaruh terhadap kemampuan spasial thinking siswa SMAN 15 Padang.
