Aphid parasitoids (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Aphidiinae) in cultivated and non-cultivated areas of Markazi Province, Iran

Abstract: The fauna of aphid parasitoids (Hymenoptera: Braconidae: Aphidiinae), as well as their diversity and tritrophic (parasitoid-host aphid-host plant) associations in cultivated and non-cultivated areas of Markazi province, was studied during [2004][2005][2006][2007][2008][2009]. Thirty species of Aphidiinae belonging to 9 genera were identified. There are presented, in total, 73 associations with 32 host aphids occurring on 42 host plants. Five parasitoid-aphid associations are newly recorded from Iran. Lysiphleb… Show more

“…In our study, A. craccivora and A. fabae were not stung by D. rapae, whereas when these aphid species are found on Brassicaceae, they are considered as suitable hosts for D. rapae (Alikhani, Rezwani, Starý, Kavallieratos, & Rakhshani, 2013;Kavallieratos et al, 2004), suggesting that bean modulates parasitoid performance. is generally found to be a suitable host (Colinet, Salin, Boivin, & Hance, 2005;Kavallieratos et al, 2004), suggesting that aphid genotype could be involve in this failure to parasitize (Bilodeau, Simon, Guay, Turgeon, & Cloutier, 2013;von Burg et al, 2008).…”

“…Aphids are attacked by a number of species of Aphidiidae, which can result in population suppression [ 14 , 48 – 52 ]. To enhance the application of parasitoids in aphid management, the species composition and dynamics of parasitoids should be explored.…”
