Application of concentration-volume fractal method in induced polarization and resistivity data interpretation for Cu-Mo porphyry deposits exploration, case study: Nowchun Cu-Mo deposit, SE Iran

Abstract: Abstract. The aim of this study is the utilization of the concentration-volume (C-V ) fractal method based on geoelectrical data including induced polarization (IP) and resistivity (RS) in targeting areas hosting different sulfidic mineralization zones in Nowchun Cu-Mo porphyry deposit, SE Iran. The C-V fractal model employed in this research in order to separate high and moderate sulfidic zones from low sulfidic zone and barren wall rocks in the deposit is corresponding to chargeability and resistivity. “…(2) (Daneshvar Saein et al, 2012). The two approaches which were used to calculate A(ρ) by Cheng et al (1994) were: (1) the A(ρ) is the area enclosed by contour level ρ on a variables' contour map resulting from interpolation of the original data using a weighted moving average method, and (2) the A(ρ) are the values that are obtained by boxcounting of original regional variables' values.…”

“…Some evidence shows that geophysical data distributions are fractal in nature and behaviour (e.g. Bolviken et al, 1992;Turcotte, 1997;Gettings, 2005;Afzal et al, 2012;Daneshvar Saein et al, 2012). This idea may help the development of an alternative interpretation validation as well as useful methods to be applied to geophysical distribution analysis .…”

“…Herein after a brief introduction of the DEA, thirteen different raster-based evidential layers derived from different geodatasets (geological, geophysical and geochemical) are integrated for the real data pertaining to the Nowchun porphyry Cu-Mo deposit located in Kerman, central Iran. This region has been previously studied in the variety works (Abedi and Norouzi 2012;Abedi et al, 2012aAbedi et al, , 2012bAbedi et al, , 2012cDaneshvar Saein et al, 2012;Abedi et al, 2013aAbedi et al, , 2013cDaneshvar Saein et al, 2014) by examination of divers integration methods in MPM. The main objective of this study is to investigate the applicability of the proposed method in MPM process.…”
