Application of Sandwich Learning in the Theory Teaching of Histology and Embryology for First-Year Medical Students

Abstract: Objective: To investigate the effect of Sandwich Learning (SL) in the theory teaching of Histology and Embryology. Methods: 110 freshmen majoring in clinical medicine were randomly chosen as the experimental group of Sandwich Learning, while 111 students at the same grade were chosen as the control group for traditional lecture-style teaching. After different teaching, students from both groups were surveyed by questionnaires. And they had to take examinations about theoretical knowledge and specimen of Histol… Show more

“…Adetuyi zeroed in on the relationship of bilingualism in sandwich-focused English language improvement and utilized a semiexploratory plan with a 3 × 2 × 2 factorial network, that is, the pretest and posttest control bunch [ 5 ]. Wang et al discussed the role of sandwich learning in the theoretical teaching of histoembryology [ 6 ]. Manu and Owusu-Ansa's examination planned to decide the effect of segment factors on preadministration educators' impression of educating and learning in instructive exploration courses at a confidential college in Ghana throughout the fall 2017 semester [ 7 ].…”

“…Regarding the use of the sandwich method in embryology, only one study was found. The researchers used the methodology in medical classes in the disciplines of histology and embryology reporting a positive experience, however for the method to work it is necessary to have time in the classroom, the authors suggest that the problem to be worked by the students is sent in advance and that they can count on extracurricular time for discussion (Wang et al, 2018).…”

“…Active methods corroborate to improve student engagement, as well as a series of resources available to be applied by the teacher, who must be committed to the method to become a facilitator of the teaching and learning process (Hyun et al, 2017). With the curricular changes, this new range of resources aimed at promoting active teaching has been increasingly used in many schools, especially in the medical field (Wang et al, 2018). It is pointed out as a guiding approach allowing students to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes related to social, political and economic demands (Pucinelli et al, 2021).…”

“…What is its therapy? The process of raising, analyzing and solving problems related to clinical knowledge points gradually not only arouses students' learning interest but also prompts them to search related materials, look for the answers and understand the knowledge points better (Wang et al, 2018).…”
