Application of the Sol-Gel Method at the Fabrication of PLZT:Yb3+ Ceramics

Abstract: The aim of presented study was to obtain the PLZT:Yb3+ ceramics. Nanopowders of itterbium doped PLZT materials were synthesized by the sol-gel method from high quality metaloorganic precursors, as lead (II) acetate, lanthanum acetate, ytterbium acetate, zirconium (IV) propoxide and titanium (IV) propoxide. Anhydrous acetic acid and n-propyl alcohol were used as solvents, while acetyloacetone was added as stabilizer of hydrolysis reactions. Thermal evolution of the dried gels, before and after calcination, was … Show more

“…Since the (Pb 0.91 La 0.09 )(Zr 0.65 Ti 0.35 ) 0.9975 O 3 transparent ceramics show excellent optical quality and ferroelectric properties due to their relaxor-like properties, they have become interesting for applications in many electro-optical devices [22][23][24][25][26][27][28]. By doping with rare earth metals, 9/65/35 PLZT ceramics can become a multifunctional (smart) material [29][30][31].…”
