Application of thermal gravimetric analysis and comparison of polyethylene films before and after exposure in various chemical solutions

Abstract: In this paper, there are published experimental results of research in the field of polymers. The thermal analysis conveys information about changes in material effected by the melting of the material. The investigated material is low-density polyethylene (LD – PE). The LD – PE films were exposed to aggressive media with different values of potencia hydrogeni (pH). The experiment aims to apply thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), one of the methods of thermal analysis. TGA monitors the weight of polyethylene fi… Show more

“…It is a useful tool to quantify different processes such as crystalline melting, sublimation, or decomposition of a sample, and to elucidate the degree of purity of the API [37]. On the other hand, it is possible to elucidate on the curves, whether the crystals under study contain water or a solvent [36].…”

“…The ageing process is determined by many factors that entail a whole set of changes in the strength and usage properties of plastic products [1][2][3][4]. These changes usually occur very slowly, with diffi culty to cath and the factors at work are diffi cult to measure.…”
