Narrators take a stance to manage or manipulate these positions, basing their decisions on interpretations of social actors' roles and duties, including self in the narratives and on the social milieu (Breheny & Stephens, 2015) where the experiences are shared with other people or objects. As in the lived version, one narrative triggers various identity performances because the front-stage discourse and back-stage discourse (Goffman, 1959) blend into a multilayered identity performance.…”
