Architecture and key technologies of grid geographic information system

Abstract: The highly efficient and stable collaborative computation platform for geospatial information can be constructed on the basis of Grid computing technology, combined with Peer-to-Peer (P2P) computing technology and geospatial database technology. This paper proposed the architecture and key technologies of the Grid GIS (Geographic Information System) incorporated with P2P structure, and correspondingly a Grid GIS prototype named Nebula was designed and then implemented. Nebula is a suite of middleware for geosp… Show more

“…There have been some success stories from the intersection field of grid computing and GIS. In some studies, the grid-computing technology is used to achieve effective geospatial data management, complex geospatial analyses, and parallel processing on remote sensing data (Shen et al 2004, Aydin et al 2008, Fang et al 2008.…”

“…With the continuous development of geographic information services, more and more organizations and enterprises have constructed geographic information service platforms nationwide. Literature [6] designed and developed a security information service platform for college students using ASP.NET technology and used this platform to develop a school population information management system and an information service management system to provide refined population management as well as resident facility location query functions for students. Thus, the platform provides more convenient travel services for users.…”

“…Recently more and more attentions have been paid on Spatial Grid, which represents a highly dynamic distributed system that connects various geographically dispersed spatial data resources [1]. Upon the Spatial Grid, various distributed applications can be achieved without knowing the backend details about data distribution information [2].…”
