The presence of a distinctive terminal segment and the absence of a pincer organ are typical characters of Candonidae, but it can also be recognized in some representatives of Cyprididae, namely the cypridopsine Neocypridopsis Klie, 1940(see Karanovic, 2012Savatenalinton, 2018), Cyprettadopsis (see Savatenalinton, 2020), and Pseudocypretta (Ma & Yu, 2020;herein).…”

The new genus is excluded from the Ilyocyprididae and Notodromadidae by its carapace morphology, and from the most Cyprididae subfamilies by its lack of a terminal pincer on the L7 (see, e.g., Horne et al 2019). We are aware of some extant cypridid genera of the subfamily Cypridopsinae with non-pincer L7 (e.g., Neocypridopsis Klie, 1940;Paranadopsis Almeida et al, 2021;Cyprettadopsis Savatenalinton, 2020) or incomplete pincer structure (e.g., Brasilodopsis Almeida et al, 2021) but all of these share the cypridopsine character of a reduced UR, unlike Electrocypria which has a fully developed UR.…”

Two new species of Strandesia Stuhlmann, 1888 (Crustacea: Ostracoda) from Thailand, with first record of a male S. martensi Savatenalinton, 2015

“…Within this superfamily, 168 species belong to the subfamily Cypricercinae McKenzie, 1971 of the family Cyprididae Baird, 1845 (Meisch et al 2019;Ferreira et al 2020;Kisseih et al 2020;Savatenalinton 2021). Representatives of Cypricercinae can be primarily recognized by the presence of Triebel's loop on the caudal ramus attachment which is a unique character of the subfamily (see Martens 1994;Horne et al 2019). The generic revision of this subfamily was carried out by Savatenalinton & Martens (2009a) which led to the arrangement of 11 genera into three tribes: Bradleystrandesiini Savatenalinton & Martens, 2009, Cypricercini McKenzie, 1971and Nealecypridini Savatenalinton & Martens, 2009.…”
