Artificially integrated synthetic rectangular waveguide

Abstract: A synthetic rectangular waveguide (SRW), which consists of two electrical sidewalls and two parallel periodical structures placed at the top and bottom surfaces of the waveguide, is presented. The SRW is made by multilayered integrated circuit processes, which typically have large ratios of SRW lateral dimensions to substrate thickness.
