Aspectos anatômicos e funcionais do aparelho reprodutor de Parastacus brasiliensis (von Martens) (Crustacea, Decapoda, Parastacidae)

Abstract: ABSTRACT. ANATOMICAL ANO FUNCTIONAL ASPECTS OF TIIE REPROOUCTIVE SYSTEM OF PARASTACUS BRASILlENSIS(VON MARTENS) (CRUSTACEA, DECAPOOA, PARASTACIDAE).The absence of morphological external characteristics that allow the recognition ofthe sex as well as the presence of both male and female gonopores in the sarne animal [except in some sexual forms of Paras/aeus nieoleti (Phil ippi, l882)] gives rise to the hypothetical existence of some form of hermaphroditism in crayfishes belonging to the genus Paras/aeus Huxley… Show more

“…and P. pilimanus (von Martens, 1869) (Rudolph, personal communication), intersexuality is not associated with the existence of hermaphroditism. Almeida and Buckup (1997) studied the reproductive system of P. brasiliensis (von Martens, 1869). The existence of two pairs of genital ducts in testes and ovaries was verified: an anterior pair (oviducts) that connect to the female gonopores located in the coxopodites of the third pair of pereiopods, and a posterior pair (vasa deferentia) that connect to the male gonopores located in the coxopodites of the fifth pair of pereiopods.…”
