The research showsThis paperstudy presents a theoretical model of sustainable tourism in protected areas based on the experiences obtained in fromthrough field work carried out in the Machalilla national park. The units of analysis that compose it and their theoretical–-methodological foundation, and as well as the indications for their practical implementation in the face of the changes imposed by future tourism are exposed. Using the deductive method, the an analysis of the problem and the general theories linked to sustainable tourism in protected areas was carried out., the This involved establishingment of the premises and the developingment of the objectives to reach conclusions on the topic studied. A qualitative investigation is presented that allowed for the integration of contributions from the analyszes carried out for the treatment and processing of information. Among the results, the systematization of theoretical models linked to tourism in protected areas and, from a practical point of view, the application of a sustainable tourism model was were achieved. The results show the relevance of the proposed theoretical model that is proposed as a contribution to the scientific development of tourism. This model highlights, the systemic nature of its components from a new perspective of analysis, which considerings the need for changes as a development factor.

This work aims to show a theoretical model of community-based tourism, to explain its component subsystems, to provide its theoretical–methodological foundation and to discuss the indications of its practical instrumentation in facing the changes that tourism of the future imposes and will impose. The research was carried out in the tourist context of Ecuador, for which the deductive method was applied, which allowed for examining the problem, and the more general theories related to tourist activity, which allowed for identifying the premises and objectives of the work to reach accurate conclusions on the subject studied. This was a mixed investigation that allowed for integrating the contributions of qualitative and quantitative analyses in the treatment and processing of information. The results included achieving systematization of the theoretical models linked to community-based tourism and, from a practical point of view, obtaining a new model of community-based tourism, a graphic representation of the subsystems that form this model, and its arguments. The findings show the need to update the community-based tourism model as a contribution to the scientific development of tourism as well as the systemic nature of its components from a new perspective of analysis that considers the need for changes as a developmental factor.

El turismo rural comunitario ha surgido como una herramienta poderosa para impulsar el desarrollo sostenible en áreas rurales en todo el mundo. En este artículo, se presenta un modelo innovador de gestión del turismo rural comunitario en San José de Bachillero, una encantadora parroquia ubicada en la región de Manabí en Ecuador, con el objetivo de mejorar la calidad de vida de los habitantes y promover el turismo sostenible en la zona. En la investigación se aplicó entrevistas y encuestas para medir las variables de estudio con el fin de conocer los recursos naturales y culturales de la parroquia además de la predisposición de participación de los habitantes. A partir del análisis, de los principales resultados obtenidos se evidenció que la parroquia cuenta con una comunidad activa y un inventario recursos naturales que deben ser potencializados, ya que, al combinar la conservación de los recursos naturales y culturales con la participación activa de los habitantes, se genera un enfoque económico, social y ambiental a nivel local. En conclusión, a través de la presentación de un modelo de gestión innovador y sostenible que promueva el bienestar de los habitantes, se busca aportar al desarrollo del turismo rural comunitario en la parroquia.
