Slovak spa services are not given sufficient attention directly following the support and sustainable development. The paper focuses on the evaluation of the overall development and current level of efficiency of the Slovak spas in 2013–2018, through the application of DEA models. Input variables (total number of beds, employees, medical staff) and output variables (use of bed capacity, number of treated clients) within the structure of DEA models analyzed (CCR-I, CCR-O, BCC-I, BCC-O) are determined by results of the correlation analysis. The data were obtained from the annual reports of the spa enterprises. By the results, the average efficiency score for all enterprises reached 0.7527, i.e., the average spa enterprise would need only 75.27% of currently used inputs for a given output production to move to the efficiency frontier. The development of the average efficiency score confirmed a positive growing trend until 2015; however, the efficiency decreased by 1.84% in a year-to-year comparison in 2016–2018. In each year of the analyzed period, the number of inefficient enterprises (66.67%) exceeded that of the efficient ones (33.33%). Through research carried out in spa facilities, the authors contributed to expanding the application of the DEA method in another tourism sector.

Behavioural Factors for Users of Bicycles as a Transport Alternative: A Case Study

Recent mobility and transportation dynamics have shaped the main sustainability problems of today, evidencing the need to potentiate alternative, flexible, environmentally friendly transportation means—such as bicycles—that significantly contribute to the health and well-being of users. However, in cities that are just beginning to implement bicycle systems or are seeking to achieve high levels of bicycle use, it is important to know which are the most relevant factors that users consider when using this type of medium. Therefore, the objective of this study was to identify the main behavioural factors among users of the public bicycle programme EnCicla in the city of Medellín, Colombia. Confirmatory factor analysis of responses to a self-administered questionnaire, elaborated based on the Theory of Planned Behaviour, was conducted using the statistical tool Statistical Product and Service Solutions (SPSS). Among the main results, the behavioural factors that further explained behavioural intention were attitude towards behaviour and perceived behavioural control, with values of 0.579 and 0.519, respectively (Cramér coefficient or Cramér’s V). The relevance of these factors lies in the implementation of dynamics that affect a better assessment by users of public bicycles in the EnCicla system, increasing satisfaction with the service and promoting greater adoption in the context of current mobility needs. The practical implications of this study are related to the possibility of designing strategies and public policies to enhance this means of transport in the cities where it is implemented, or to prepare a possible implementation in those that plan to do so.

In the last decade online shopping has been a consumer behavior that has changed the usual patterns of buying behavior in the market. This paper aims to present a literature review on the differences between the consumer characteristics that tend to purchase online food products and those who are later innovators of this new form of shopping. In the countries of the European Union there is an increase of 17% of online purchases for food products with a doubled trend of these purchases for rural areas. In the US, online food sales are expected to keep up after the pandemic and it is expected to double by 2025. Nevertheless, more than a decade ago, there is still a large group of customers resisting this way of buying. On the contrary, some surveys show that situational factors, such as having a baby or developing health problems, are triggers for starting to buy groceries online and also once these situational factors are gone consumer discontinues this behavior. Consumers consider online grocery shopping as an innovation that is different from other shopping channels. Online grocery buyers differ from the non-buyers in perception of online grocery shopping characteristics. The combination of using offline and online as called multichannel shopping, might be an interesting solution.
