User identifiers for financial transactions are widely used for personal identification numbers (PINs). PIN numbers are deposited at ATMs, card payments at POS terminals and electronic banking services. Bank card (ATM) credit card fraud has dramatically increased over the last decade. When analyzing the most common attacks and the reasons for successful frauds, it is clear that the main problem is PIN authentication, which itself does not produce any security features (except for the use of stars). This means that security is based solely on user behaviour. Research has focused on areas where personal protection and security is most failing, and that's where the user is carrying a PIN along with a credit card, whether he or she changed the PIN on the payment card, and whether the PIN does not specify the date or year of his birth.
The number of financial and cyber-attacks is increasing. The latter trend in financial and cyber security incidents is global and, as such it is being monitored globally. Cyber and financial statistical data and the growing number of certified information management systems show the practical importance of data security at the international level. The decisions to solve the data security problems are based on the technical point of view, protection motivation theory, and security standards. By analysing the security of payment system, this article aspires to aid in the development of secure systems. Its aim is to contribute to the knowledge and comprehension of the behaviour of payment systems users with special focus on the aspect of their security. The article analyses the opinions and attitudes of respondents toward the questions dealing with the security of payment systems and their behaviour when using payment cards. The analysis is carried out from the aspect of gender, age and education of respondents by using multidimensional statistical methods, namely factor analysis and analysis of dispersion.
The conception of economic security management should be established on instruments and measures that will enable the financial institutions to operate in their interest without losing their financial stability, profitability and economic independence. This is a significant prerequisite for the security of the functional components of the company's financial security. The article presents an analysis of research results. Its objective is to contribute to the knowledge and understanding of the behaviour of payment card users with a special focus on the aspect of their security connected with the use of payment card personal identification number (PIN). The article analyses the opinions and attitudes of respondents toward the questions dealing with the security of payment cards and their behaviour when using them. The analysis is carried out from the aspect of gender, age and education of respondents by using multidimensional statistical methods, namely factor analysis and analysis of dispersion.
Currently within the European Union a great attention is paid to the lifelong learning and a lot of projects in this area have been carried out also with its financial support. One of such projects was the project Improving the Professional, Managerial and Linguistic Knowledge and Skills of Customs Officers and Customs Administration. This project, financially supported by the European Social Fund within the Operational Programme Employment and Social Inclusion, was carried out in the period from 2010 to 2012. Its main coordinator was the Customs Directorate of the Slovak Republic, which implemented it into the practice in cooperation with the SlovDidac Association and participation of experts from some higher education institutions. The main goal of the project was to improve qualification and professional knowledge and skills of the target group and to increase effectiveness and quality of its work. The key education activities of the project were based on the use of elearning support and flash animations, too. In the paper the authors summarize the project background and its main results.
