Assessment of Groundwater Resources After Gerd in Egypt

Abstract: Groundwater is a valuable source in Egypt. However, it is expected to face many challenges in next few decades due to climate changes, rapid population increase and development in the upper Nile Basin countries. All of these factors are putting more stresses on this source. Groundwater sector in Egypt is expected to suffer of rapid declination in levels due to the reduction of water recharge in the renewable aquifers (Nile Valley and Delta aquifers). This decline is expected due to climate change (on the long … Show more

“…The shape and geometry of other components such as plates and screws were also adopted from other previous researchers [5], as shown in figure 1(b) and 1(c). Stainless steel material of type AISI 316 was chosen as the plate and screw material, with the mechanical properties shown in tabel 1 [6]. AISI 316 stainless steel is the most widely used material because it is IOP Publishing doi:10.1088/1742-6596/2739/1/012046 3 more economical in terms of cost, has high biocompatibility, and also has corrosion resistance to the physiological salt content in the human body [7].…”

“…Ghany et al [30] estimated that in Egypt, the groundwater sector will experience a rapid decline in levels due to the decrease in water recharge in the renewable aquifers (Nile Valley and Delta aquifers). This decline is expected as a result of climate change and the construction of the GERD reservoir.…”
