The utilization or secondary use of technogenic waste is a relevant problem for the current economy. To assess the environmental influence and economic potential, it is necessary to study the elemental content of technogenic objects and to reveal the tendencies of the spatial distribution of elements, components, and indices such as the pollution coefficient. In this study, we performed elemental analysis, and calculation of indicators: average gross content, hazard quotients, concentration coefficients of metals, and total pollution coefficients of ground samples taken from the ash-slag storage of the Aksu ferroalloy plant [Aksu, Pavlodar region, Kazakhstan]. Maps of the spatial distribution of concentrations of elements and total pollution coefficients were created. The territory of the studied ash-slag storage by the level of soil contamination should be considered as an environmental disaster zone. The given statistical data on the number of oncological and respiratory diseases indirectly indicated the negative influence of open storage of ash-slag waste. The studied ground was of chromium-manganese geochemical specialization. The calculated volume of the accumulated waste mass by the approximating method was 1 054 638.0 m3. The calculated approximate weight of the accumulated waste was 23 679 576.0864 tons, including 1 822 972.2 tons of chromium, 1 727 354.0 tons of manganese, and 953 813.3 tons of iron. The large amounts of valuable components retained in the waste mass led us to conclude that the studied technogenic object can be considered as a secondary field to produce various technological products. Moreover, valuable metals can be extracted as metal concentrates.

To achieve sustainable development and to form an export-oriented model of economic growth, Kazakhstan is making a transition to low-carbon development. The transformation of the economy has improved the investment climate in the country making Kazakhstan one of the key recipients of foreign direct investment in Central Asia. In view of the above, the need to increase the scientific validity of measures taken by the state for increasing the investment attractiveness of the geological exploration industry, on the progress of which changing the resource-export model of development largely depends and building up the energy security of Kazakhstan, is updated. The article identifies the key factors constraining the strengthening of the market positions of the geological industry in Kazakhstan and negatively affecting its investment attractiveness. It has been substantiated that the sectoral problems accumulated over the entire post-Soviet period hinder the further advancement of all the extractive industries and require the activation of new measures of state support. The author analyzes the actions planned by the state to reduce socio-economic tension in single-industry towns caused by the depletion of the mineral resource base near their location. The analysis of the state regulation mechanisms of the subsoil use and the mining and metallurgical industry that are especially attractive for investors, leads to the conclusion that it is necessary to reform the Kazakhstan model of financing geological exploration using the principles of public-private partnership. An example of adaptation by Kazakhstan of the leading countriesexperience in attracting junior companies to geological exploration is considered. The difficulties that hinder the advancement of juniors in the Kazakhstan market, the opportunities for overcoming and opening up prospects have been identified. It has been substantiated that in the medium term one of the new investment policy guidelines in the geological exploration industry should be an innovative and technological course towards digital transformation of production and management processes. At the same time, Kazakhstan, like other countries with the transit economy, will have to overcome the risks and challenges that have emerged as a result of global digitalization. The article shows that to stimulate digitalization of geological exploration, significant investments are needed, which will require, alongside with government regulation, searching for new forms and mechanisms of publicprivate partnership.

Purpose. To study the modern methodology for forming a list of mineragenic factors and prospecting signs of ore fields and deposits of copper-porphyry type based on reference objects and model constructions on the example of deposits of Jungar-Balkhash folded region. Methodology. The methodology for identifying the desired factors and criteria is based on the collection and analysis of published and historical data, formation of digital databases using raster and vector geological maps. It also includes the use of modern, advanced specialized technologies and software packages for geophysical surveys and remote sensing data. According to the adopted technology, the results of aerospace methods are used, which include aerial photography, space radar imaging, infrared and spectrozonal surveys and others. The research involves interpretation of WorldView-3 satellite images. Findings. A list of metallogenic characteristics describing potential copper-porphyry mineralization within the study area has been compiled. Using the Spectral Evolution PSM-3500 infrared spectrometer, characteristic areas of secondary changes in copper-porphyry systems have been identified. ASTER spectral satellite radiometer data have identified mineral spectra, iron hydroxides, propylitic associations, areas of quartzite formation and silicification. By interpreting WorldView-3 satellite images, digital files have been obtained identifying iron ore minerals (hematite, goethite), secondary quartzites (advanced argillizites), varieties of sericite and other clay minerals, silicon, carbonates and propylites (chlorite, epidote). Based on interpretation, “parquet” fracturing in granite bodies and in the area of volcanogenic and sedimentary strata development has been identified, as well as structural lines indicating the strike of rock layers. Originality. Using the example of an exploration area based on the analysis of a priori and up-to-date data, the nature of a set of relevant criteria and signs for predicting and prospecting has been determined, aimed at increasing the reliability and accuracy of formation of geological-geophysical models. Practical value. The collected and systematized geophysical data can serve as a basis for developing plans for further geological exploration, identifying promising areas, determining the required volumes and methods of geophysical surveys. They can also contribute to the increase in estimate of reserves and production at mining sites. The prepared models are intended for preliminary assessment of known and newly discovered ore deposits of various types, as well as for determining the directions of geological exploration in the areas of prospecting the Northern Pribalkhash.
