Assessment of Solar Energy Potential and Its Ecological-Economic Efficiency: Azerbaijan Case

Abstract: The paper investigates resource, technical, economic and market potential of solar energy and its ecology and economic efficiency in Azerbaijan. The authors have distinguished six regions in the territory of Azerbaijan with different levels of solar radiation. The resource potential of the regions is calculated by the AutoCad program. As well, technical and economic potential was calculated by special methodology. The authors concluded that Azerbaijan has so much solar energy resource potential and it is possi… Show more

“…The use of renewable energy sources has been investigated in many studies and scientific analyses. They concern mainly the development of renewable energy in the context of SD [67], the potential to use solar energy from photovoltaic systems, their efficiency and environmental impact [68,69], potential to use wind energy [70,71], hydropower [72], tidal energy [73], geothermal energy [74] and biomass energy [75]. Many publications are devoted to the economic efficiency of investments in renewable energy sources in the EU [5,[76][77][78], and the VG [79][80][81].…”

“…These capabilities can offer so many optimal solutions and consumer's expectations in India's solar energy, basically to extract potential to develop new materials, technologies, and systems more rapidly and at lower cost than traditional approaches. Many R&D institutions have development of such capabilities as its central focus [18]. In Indian context, many of state electricity commissions and regulators are using advanced scientific tools for energy cost calculations and make available to energy technology developers.…”

“…At the moment, China, Taiwan, the USA, Japan, and Germany are the leading manufacturers of solar panels in the world [54]. In 2017, China installed 53.3% of the world's total solar capacity, which is followed by India, which accounts 10% of the overall generation [55,56]. This makes China one of the notable countries specifically in solar technologies, where the country itself dominates 60% of the PV production in the world market [50].…”
