Association of the rs3077 and rs9277535 polymorphisms inHLA-DPwith hepatitis B virus infection and spontaneous clearance: A meta-analysis

Abstract: Our results demonstrated that the rs3077 and rs9277535 HLA-DP polymorphisms reduced HBV infection and increased the likelihood of spontaneous viral clearance in some Asian populations.

“…As compared with rs9277535 GG genotype, the multivariate-adjusted ORs were 0.46 (95% CI, 0.39-0.56) and 0.62 (95% CI, 0.57-0.68) for AA and AG genotypes, respectively. 30 In the present GWAS study, the rs9277535 A allele was correlated with a lower risk of nonresponse to booster HB vaccination, which was consistent with previous findings.…”

“…A recent meta‐analysis estimated that the multivariate‐adjusted ORs of HBV chronic infection for rs3077 AA and AG genotypes were 0.42 (95% CI, 0.30–0.59) and 0.60 (95% CI, 0.46–0.78), respectively, in comparison with rs3077 GG genotype. As compared with rs9277535 GG genotype, the multivariate‐adjusted ORs were 0.46 (95% CI, 0.39–0.56) and 0.62 (95% CI, 0.57–0.68) for AA and AG genotypes, respectively . “…Several lines of evidence and two recent meta‐analyses indicate that host genetics predicts spontaneous clearance of HBV among Asian patients . The stronger association is with SNPs in the HLA Class II locus, which is in line with the overall understanding of a genetic predisposition influencing the evolution of HBV infection.…”

“…Compared with the previous meta-analysis 52 , the present study is much larger, with more than three times as many subjects as the earlier study. In addition, we assessed not only the effect on HBV infection and viral clearance but also the effects on HBV activity and HCC development.…”
