Association of TLR3 (rs3775291) and IL-10 (rs1800871) gene polymorphisms with susceptibility to Hepatitis B infection: A meta-analysis

Abstract: TLR3 and IL-10 play a crucial role in antiviral defence. However, there is a controversy between TLR3 rs3775291 and IL-10 rs1800871 polymorphisms and the risk of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between the two single nucleotide mutations and the risk of HBV infection by meta-analysis. Medline, EMBASE, Web of Science, CNKI, China Wanfang database were searched for the case-control studies on the relationship between TLR3 rs3775291 and IL-10 rs1800871 p… Show more

“…The relationship between rs1800871 and other viral infections was shown in HBV infection. It has been demonstrated that the IL10 rs1800871 C allele and CC genotype can increase the risk of HBV infection [29]. In addition, a higher risk of systemic lupus erythematosus in Iranian patients was observed at the IL10 rs1800871 CC genotype [17].…”

“…The rs3775290 polymorphism on chromosome 4’s TLR3 gene can inhibit TLR3 activation, hindering pathogen recognition and weakening the immune response, thereby increasing the disease’s infectiousness ( 104 ). A meta-analysis validated the association between the rs3775291 polymorphism and HBV susceptibility, with the T allele and TT genotype enhancing the chances of HBV infection ( 107 ). Rong et al.…”

“…Similarly, they increased the CHB-associated high risk of acute chronic liver failure (ACLF) ( 108 ). A meta-analysis indicated that rs3775291 is a substantial risk factor for HBV-associated liver infection ( 107 , 109 ). Li and Zheng discovered that it is associated with prolonged susceptibility to HBV-associated HCC ( 110 ).…”

“…Improve liver histology and reduce fibrosis [ 51 ]. Ye et al included 22 case-control studies for meta-analysis and found that IL-10 rs1800871 polymorphism was associated with HBV risk, and allele C and genotype CC at IL10 rs1800871 locus may increase susceptibility to hepatitis B infection [ 52 ]. A meta-analysis showed that IL-10-1082GA gene polymorphism is associated with susceptibility to persistent HBV infection in the Chinese population, and IL-10-592CA gene polymorphism is associated with HBV clearance in the Chinese population [ 53 ].…”
