Association of TNF-α-3959T/C Gene Polymorphisms in the Chinese Population with Intracranial Aneurysms

Abstract: Recent studies have demonstrated that cytokines play an important role in the pathogenesis of intracranial aneurysm (IA). Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) is an important proinflammatory cytokine, which was shown to influence the development of IA, but there is no research data from China. Hence, the purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between TNF-α polymorphisms and IA in China. The association of genetic variants of TNF-α gene expression was investigated in a Chinese population with IA. The … Show more

“…A total of 192 patients (77 males and 115 females; age range, 15-76 years; median age, 54±6.6 years) with IA and 112 healthy volunteers (61 males and 51 females; age range, 14-65 years; median age, 45±4.8 years) from Taihe Hospital (between March, 2013 to October, 2016) participated in this study. The specific inclusion criteria and personnel structure were consistent with those previously reported (29). Informed consent was obtained from all the patients.…”

“…This is the first study to examine the genotyping of -806C/T in AS patients from Iraq. Nevertheless, the results were equivalent to those from investigational research on the hazards of intracranial aneurysms among Chinese people 44 . Furthermore, addressing the distinction in genotype frequency between the study groups, an analysis of this study showed a non-significant difference in CC and CT genotypes between the two groups.…”

“…In addition to the inflammatory cytokine gene polymorphisms mentioned above, there were various other polymorphisms in TNF and IL genes that were studied in Chinese, Japanese, and Indian populations. 17,18,[25][26][27][28][29][30] The studies reported significant associations between TNF-α rs361525 and rs1799964 polymorphisms and IA in Indian and Chinese individuals, respectively. Additional research showed that IL-11RA and TNFRSF13B polymorphisms were associated with IA in a Japanese cohort, illustrating the potential roles of these genes in IA (Supplementary Table 1, only online).…”
