Associations between TAB2 Gene Polymorphisms and Epithelial Ovarian Cancer in a Chinese Population

Abstract: Background. Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) is highly lethal worldwide. Factors involved in the inflammation and hormone-associated signaling pathway play vital roles in EOC carcinogenesis. The transforming growth factor-β- (TGF-β-) activated kinase 1 (MAP3K7) binding protein 2 (TAB2), mediating convergence of inflammatory and estrogen, may be implicated in EOC. The present study is aimed at exploring the association between the TAB2 gene polymorphisms and EOC. Methods. Three single nucleotide polymorphisms (S… Show more

“…The key genes identified in subtype IV are: TAB3 gene forms a ternary complex with protein kinase MAPK3K7/ TAK1 leading to the stimulation of pro-inflammatory cytokine and NFkappa signaling activation (Figure 8d). TAB2 gene exhibits polymorphism and is associated with ovarian cancer susceptibility [72]. TAB3 gene overexpression is associated with poor survival in human esophageal squamous cell carcinoma [73].…”

“…More pervasively, binding with TAB2 will promote cardiovascular development and maintain extracellular matrix (ECM) homeostasis [ 21 , 22 ]. It has been reported to participate in activating transcription factor NF- κ B signaling pathway, which makes it contribute to the initiation of epithelial ovarian cancer [ 23 ]. Moreover, TAB2 functions as a mediator of drug resistance and might be a potential new target for reversing drug resistance and enhancing antiestrogen effects in breast cancer [ 24 ].…”

“…TAB2 is also indispensable for B cell activation leading to Ag-specific Ab responses [ 18 ]. Additionally, TAB2 gene polymorphism was associated with Epithelial ovarian cancer susceptibility [ 19 ].…”
