ASTM G 175 Interlaboratory Study on Forced Ignition Testing

Abstract: ASTM G 175 is a standard test method for evaluating the ignition sensitivity and fault tolerance of oxygen regulators used for medical and emergency applications. To show the ASTM G 175 test method was repeatable at different laboratories, a series of interlaboratory tests were performed on medical oxygen regulators in late 2002. These tests were performed on six regulator designs at three laboratories. Three of the regulator models employed a compressed gas association (CGA) 870-style connection and the other… Show more

“…The fourth column in the table lists the ratio between the stress level s at which each of the tests was carried out and the yield stress of the pre-service steel at the test temperature s yp (T), according to the compilation by Smith. 8 The last column in Table 2 gives the calculated time to rupture of the pre-service steel, according to the lower bound of its performance, as determined by Larson-Miller curves. 8 Figure 6 reproduces the compilation of data of the preservice steel as marked by the small points, the mean and the lower bound of these results.…”

“…The pin on disc unidirectional dry sliding wear test was performed on Ducom Tribometer. Samples were extracted from NZ (figure 2) for the test and prepared according to ASTM G99-17 standard [35]. Due to insufficient height, a specially designed pin holder was fabricated to hold the pin during wear testing.…”
