Asymmetric Catalysis with Chiral Ferrocene Ligands

Abstract: Chiral ferrocene ligands have been widely used in asymmetric catalysis. The advantages of using ferrocene as a scaffold for chiral ligands are described, particularly those regarding planar chirality, rigid bulkiness, and ease of derivatization. The role of planar chirality in 1,2- and 1,1'-disubstituted ferrocene systems is discussed. By using a bulky ferrocene fragment, novel ferrocene ligands were designed, and high enantioselectivity and regioselectivity were achieved in the allylic substitution reaction o… Show more

“…[29] Catalysis Chiral ferrocene ligands are widely used in asymmetric synthesis due to their desirable and tunable features for design. [30] Some of these ligands play important roles as catalytic systems in industrial processes. Clickphos ligands, triazole-based monophosphine ligands developed by Zhang and co-workers, [31] were found to be efficient ligands for palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions with a turnover number of 9300.…”

“…Numerous reviews have highlighted the synthesis and applications of ferrocene-based ligands in the past [12][13][14][15][16][17]. With this review, we wish to give a focused and up-to-date summary of the synthetic routes towards chiral hybrid P,N-ferrocenyl ligands and an overview of the applications of these ligands in enantioselective catalysis.…”

“…It is well known that planar chiral ferrocenes are frequently applied as highly efficient catalysts or ligands in asymmetric synthesis [66][67][68][69][70][71]. Inspired by previous studies from Yu group [44,62], You et al, developed an enantioselective syntheses of planar chiral ferrocenes via palladium-catalyzed direct coupling with arylboronic acids in 2013 (Scheme 15) [72].…”
