At-line coupling of capillary electrophoresis and surface-enhanced resonance Raman spectroscopyThe practicability of an at-line capillary electrophoresis -surface-enhanced resonance Raman spectroscopy configuration was explored. To achieve electrical contact, a metallized outlet capillary was used. The CE effluent was deposited on a moving thin layer chromatography plate. Next, the deposited analytes -three acidic dyes (Food Yellow 3, Acid Orange 7 and Food Red 1) -were treated with silver sol and poly(Llysine) or nitric acid, followed by irradiation with 514.5 nm light from an argon ion laser to record the SERRS signal. Analyte confirmation could be achieved down to a few pmoles deposited on the TLC plate.
