“…Patients with allergies have hypothetically an overactivity of their immunological mechanisms and thus the presence of clinical allergy might be protective with regard to the development of cancer. To date, a number of studies have reported a protective effect (1–27) but other studies have found allergy to be a risk factor for cancer (28–33) and some have found no correlation or conflicting results (34–43).
