Aucubin Promotes Differentiation of Neural Precursor Cells into GABAergic Neurons

Abstract: Aucubin is a small compound naturally found in traditional medicinal herbs with primarily anti-inflammatory and protective effects. In the nervous system, aucubin is reported to be neuroprotective by enhancing neuronal survival and inhibiting apoptotic cell death in cultures and disease models. Our previous data, however, suggest that aucubin facilitates neurite elongation in cultured hippocampal neurons and axonal regrowth in regenerating sciatic nerves. Here, we investigated whether aucubin facilitates the d… Show more

“…The slides were blocked sequentially with 5% goat serum in PBS for 1 h at 37°C for immunohistochemistry. The tissues were incubated with rabbit anti-AT 1 receptor (1:100, Proteintech, Wuhan, China), rabbit anti-GRIN2B antibody, (excitatory glutamatergic neuron marker [25], 1:100, Proteintech, Wuhan, China) and rabbit anti-GAD65 antibody (inhibitory GABAergic neurons marker [26], 1:100, Proteintech, Wuhan, China) overnight at 4°C. The optical density (OD) of the stained slides was quantitated by ImageJ (NIH, Bethesda, MD, U.S.A.).…”

“…Second, it promotes the differentiation of neural precursor cells (NPCs) into GABAergic neurons (Song et al. 2018b ). Third, the survival of neural precursor cells and other specific neuron types such as GABAergic neurons and glutamatergic neurons are enhanced (Song et al.…”
