Augmented situated visualization methods towards electromagnetic compatibility testing

Abstract: Highlights Development and user assessment of an Augmented Situated Visualization of EMC data. Significant effect of the interaction methods on the time taken for data extraction. Significant effect of the interaction methods used on walking steps. Significant effect of the interaction and visualization methods on task correctness. Results suggest that specific techniques may be used depending on the task requisites.

“…Their results show that situated visualization can help athletes refine shots better. Guarese et al [40] addressed the situated analysis of electromagnetic radiation data for detecting external interferences or anomalies. They developed a prototype that allows users to visualize 3D field topologies of different radiation frequencies inside an anechoic chamber.…”

“…Firstly, there are area-based visualizations. These visualizations use techniques like volume rendering [25], heatmaps [21,23,28,30,36] and three-dimensional field topologies [10] to describe the full shape of a router's coverage in either two or three dimensions. These visualizations excel at giving analysts a notion of coverage of a single router or network but struggle to visualize multiple routers because of color mixing or visual clutter [16].…”
