“…Analytical procedures based on the principles of ion-pair formation between a protonated alkaloid and a negatively charged metal-containing species have been developed for the indirect AAS determination of alkaloids. The feasibility of using AuCl 4 - for the on-line extraction and CL determination of atropine in aqueous media is examined in this paper. The fundamental theory is closely related to the procedure for gold (III) determination based on CL oxidation of luminol with AuCl 4 - in reverse micelles as reported previously. − , The validation of the proposed method is confirmed by applying it to the determination of atropine in synthetic urine samples and of atropine and scopolamine in pharmaceutical preparations. The proposed procedure could be extended to the determination of cocaine.…”

“…Chemiluminescence (CL) has been established as a valuable detection technique offering low detection limits, wide linear range, high analytical throughput and simple instrumentation 36 37 . Tsogas et al recently reported a method for the ultratrace determination of silver, gold, and iron oxide nanoparticles involving chemiluminescence detection 34 .…”

“…Various sample pretreatment processes may be coupled with the FIA system. Examples are solvent-solvent extraction [ 23 , 24 ], sample clean-up such as filter and dialysis [ 25 31 ], digestion [ 32 ], dilution [ 33 ], and preconcentration [ 34 – 36 ]. The technique so called bead injection, in which active microbeads are used as solid surface to accommodate chemical reaction or to selectively trap/separate and accumulate analyte of interest from sample matrices, has provided for more applications [ 37 39 ].…”
