ABSTRACTThe pesticide application methods can influence its effectiveness of control in the target. Thus, the determination of the nozzle type to be used, as well as the quantity of spray is factors that determine the quality of an application. For in such a way, this work had as objective to evaluate the quality of the application of herbicides being used different nozzle (flat-fan nuzzle and cone nozzle) and different quantity of spray (100 and 150 L ha-1) aiming at the control of weeds. Sixteen treatment were used in a factorial 2x2x4 (quantity of spray x nozzle x herbicide), with three blocks. The used herbicides were: glyphosate, metsulfuron methyl, 2,4 -D and paraquat. The experimental unit had an area of 700 m 2 , where was evaluated the control of the weeds. The species Conyza bonariensis, Sonchus oleraceus, Parthenium hysterophorus, Bidens pilosa, Galinsoga parviflora, Soliva pterosperma, Raphanus raphanistrum, Stellaria media, Spergula arvensis, Stachys arvensis and Rumex obtusifolius were the weeds in the area. The control of C. bonariensis, B. pilosa, G. parviflora, R. raphanistrum, S. media, Stachys arvensis was not influenced by the quantity of spray. However, greaters control percentages S. oleraceus, P. hysterophorus, Spergula arvensis and R. obtusifolius were in the application of 150 L ha -1 and for S. pterosperma 100 L ha -1 . The control of some species was not reduced in function of the type nozzle, as observed in B. pilosa, S. media and Stachys arvensis. However, the control of P. hysterophorus was more efficient when used flat-fan nozzle. The others seven evaluated species had greater have controlled with the cone nozzle. The herbicide glyphosate was more efficient in the control of weeds, with exception of the B. pilosa and Stachys arvensis.
