“…In order to elucidate the conditions of use of the sphygmomanometers with the calibration of the devices from the applied tests, it was observed that of the 76 (100%) evaluated apparatus 13 (17.6%) were de-calibrated. Through analysis of the relationship between the calibration and the type of device, we reached p = 0.3664, which cancels out the relation between the type of sphygmomanometer and the calibration; differently from what is found in other articles that describe the prevalence of calibrated aneroid-type devices stand out from other types [15,16] .…”

“…In theory, concerning care of devices, there are understandings of the correct disposal of cuffs with non-adhesive Velcro ™ and with leakages in edges. However, if studies in our area show careless with clinical devices, ( 28 , 30 ) there is no sure if disposal really occur and if there are any criteria for disposal particularly for the difficult of device replacement as reported by participants. Calibration of aneroid devices every six month is little mentioned, which is similar to a previous study; 4.8%.…”

“…However, the unavailability of different cuff sizes needs to be considered, ( 27 ) and this can induce the professional to use what is available without reflect on this step relevance. Responsibilities related to this practice deserve reflections, even for the institution ( 28 ) at the moment of cuffs purchase.…”

“…Another study from 2008 showed that a not gauged sphygmomanometer causes changes in the blood pressure measurement, having been even reported that for a excellence program of blood pressure measurement would be necessary a standardized positioning, controlled environment or with quiet sounding, in order to not provide changes in arterial pressure. Considering that this paper performed the all the verification standards used by study from 2008, it is suggested that the absence of significant difference occurred because of the program of excellence in verification [9] . Another physical condition of the studied athletes concerns the hemodynamic changes, witch it is being observed that the blood pressure data obtained indicate that the anticipatory adjustments of the cardiovascular system were occurring.…”
