“…The focus of this research was to determine the prevalence, knowledge, attitude, and practice of using topical retinoids in all regions of Saudi Arabia. A percentage of 73.2% represents the level of prevalence of acne among males and females in the Saudi population, with a mean age of 24.6 ± 7.7 years old, which is similar to a systematic review done in 2020 that the peak incidence of acne is in late adolescence and young adulthood (Ibrahim et al, 2021). Of 974 participants, 85.5% were females (Table 1), higher than reported in the previous cross-sectional study conducted in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which showed a prevalence level of 64.5% (Al Mashat et al, 2013).…”

As shown in this study, public awareness of topical retinoid contraindications was inadequate; this is linked to the importance of taking topical retinoids only after consulting a doctor or pharmacist to avoid teratogenicity and other side effects.Furthermore, educate the public about it.…”

“…In addition, the majority of the surveyed women did not know that they must stop taking isotretinoin at least one month before becoming pregnant [ 12 ]. A recent study showed that patients' knowledge about the importance of using contraceptives in women of reproductive age while on isotretinoin is suboptimal [ 13 ], with only few proportions of women adhering to the use of contraception during isotretinoin use [ 14 , 15 ].…”

“…The young age of our patients (mean: 26.8 years) exposed to ISO and their Eastern European background could potentially constitute reasons for these findings. Similar issues have been recorded in various studies that have evaluated the effectiveness of contraceptive measures during and after ISO treatment [ 20 , 21 , 22 ], although good contraceptive options, such as implants with etonogestrel, exist [ 23 ].…”
