Effect of surface capping of quantum dots (CdTe) on proteomics

Abstract: A capping agent of quantum dots affects the analysis of proteins and peptides using LDI-MS. CdTe QDs offer sensitive, high-resolution and simple analysis of proteins. QDs improved the protein digestion using the microwave-assisted trypsin digestion. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

“…The matrix should cause no chemical or thermal fragmentation of the investigated analyte. To circumvent some of these drawbacks, nanoparticles [69,70,71,72,73,74,75,76], and Ils [77] have been used. This review intends to cover the applications of ILs as matrices (Table 1) and solvents for separation and extraction (Table 2) prior to analysis using MALDI–MS.…”

“…QDs light emission is a useful property for a lot of medical labeling, imaging or sensing applications such as to distinguish between normal and tumor cells [21] gene therapy studies [22], proteomics [23], etc. From the perspective of virology, QDs are useful tools for providing rapid and sensitive virus detection to facilitate early treatment and monitoring of viral disease.…”

“…[16][17][18][19][20][21] It shows better results than other fluorescent organic dyes and quantum dots. [22][23][24][25][26] In addition, CDs exhibit high photobleaching resistance, chemical stability, stable colloidal solution, and inertness. [27][28][29][30] Researchers have studied the CDs synthesis by both top-down and bottom-up approaches with the help of both chemical and green precursors.…”
