“…The Q-branches are unaffected by the 1-uncoupling phenomenon, that is why we have used the Q-branch to evaluate the rotational constants for the L 2 re-state. The idea of an np-complex is further supported by looking at the first ionisation thresholds of the three alkaline earths, Ca=2,028.15A- [6], Sr=2,177.13A [3] and Ba=2,378.96A [13], and the term values for the np atomic states ( n -5 , 6 & 7 for Ca, Sr and Ba respectively). The np-complex originating from the 5p atomic state of Ca atom is observed at 3,060A whereas the corresponding np-complex in SrH originating from the 6p atomic state of Sr was observed at 3,290A and the analogous np-complex in BaH originating from the 7p-atomic state of Barium is expected to lie at longer wavelength than in SrH and is indeed observed at 3,694A.…”

“…In strongly magnetized condensed-matter systems, the states of the quasi-free electron gas condense into Landau bands, leading to fundamental alterations in the transport properties of the whole electron gas [2]. In atomic systems, spectral effects of high B-fields on highly excited Rydberg atoms [3,4]), such as quasi-Landau resonances [5], are well known and have been studied extensively (see [6,7] and references therein).…”

“…The level energies of the 6snp P series and their perturbers have been determined by Garton and Tomkins [2], Armstrong et al [3], and Post et al [4]. From the multichannel quantum-defect theory (MQDT) analysis [3,5] is known that the 6snp P series is strongly perturbed by levels of the 5d7p, 5d4f and 5d8p configurations in the energy region of interest.…”
