Bandwidth enhancement of a circularly polarized tapered crossed slot antenna with corner parasitic directors

Abstract: This paper presents a single-feed wideband circularly polarized (CP) antenna with tapered crossed slots and corner directors. According to the multimode resonance concept, the antenna uses two identical cross placed Vivaldi-like tapered slots as the wideband radiating elements, and four rectangular parasitic patch directors are connected on each corner of the ground for further enhancing the bandwidth. A simple second-order stepped microstrip line with a via on the other side of the substrate is used to feed t… Show more

“…As reported by Jhajharia et al [137], a shorting pin was used to c nect the horizontal arm of a radiator patch to a rectangular stub on a modified gro plane to increase the physical dimension of the horizontal arm and thereby provide other path for the current rotation. However, the use of a shorting pin to expand the band results in a low isolation between the achieved bidirectional radiation patte Hence, the application of this technique to microstrip indoor antennas is limited beca of the importance of bidirectional radiation patterns in IWC systems [21].…”

“…Various single-fed monopole CP antennas with different configuration have been designed in the recent few years. [8][9][10][11][12][13][14] In this paper, an isosceles trapezoidal monopole antenna (ITMA) with dual broadband characteristics of impedance bandwidth (IBW) and a single wideband axial ratio bandwidth (AR BW) is proposed. The antenna is designed on a single layer, single microstrip line feed configuration, and low-cost substrate (FR4).…”
