Bandwidth tunable vibration energy harvester based on hybrid triboelectric-piezoelectric array

Abstract: In this work, we present a highly effective and scalable design strategy of a triboelectric-piezoelectric hybrid array of three cantilever beams stacked over each other (wideband operation regime), which can also be rotated around their mean position to vibrate freely without impacting any other layer (narrowband operation regime). Contrary to a unique frequency response exhibited by conventional devices, the proposed device can switch between narrowband and wideband frequency responses around different centra… Show more

“…198 For this reason, different technologies for energy harvesting are proposed and we discuss some of them in this section. It is important to mention that this is not an exhaustive review in energy harvesting (interested readers are advised to check review papers focused on this topic [199][200][201][202] ). However, piezoelectric, triboelectric, and solar concentrators, as well as thermoelectric approaches are discussed in this section.…”

“…Some work creatively utilised piezoelectric-triboelectric hybridisation to improve the output performance of TENG [49,50]. For these energy harvesting devices, some researchers adopted the addition of piezoelectric NPs to improve the output performance.…”

“…The performance of single-mechanism and hybrid energy harvesting systems in this study is compared primarily in terms of power and efficiency. However, it should be noted that a hybrid configuration, which combines piezoelectric or triboelectric and electromagnetic transducers, holds the potential to offer benefits in terms of operation bandwidth and can provide a broader design space for a power electronic interface [44,45].…”
